Winners US Hudson (Coles)

The fourth of July Holiday includes our tradition of the Cardboard Regatta.  The day started out with breakfast on the beach, as everyone brought out their "masterpieces" for the first time!

There were fishing boats, airplanes, drag race cars, rockets and other forms of cardboard boats all hoping to make it across the pond and back!

As the race began, there were many that fought for the front.  After they rounded the water fountain, the winners became apparent!  In First Place was the Coles with their "Grey Goose Hudson Landing". (an airplane made as the one that crash landed on the Hudson River in NY.  Theirs had "goose feathers" in the engines, & Holly & Doc even passed out Grey Goose with a water chaser!  It wasnt a coincidence that they are also FROM Hudson (Wisconsin, though)!  Everything was so well thought out & very clever!

Second Place went to the Heath girls raft.  They built a aerodynamic raft that was made for speed & stability!  The girls laid flat on the vessel and smoothly paddeled to the finish with hardly a ripple in the water!  Great job!

Third Place went to the fabulous Shells with their "Dragster Paddle Boat"!  Their boat included actual paddle wheels that were built to be pedaled by the sailors.  The "unveiling" included tasty treats & VIP tickets to their box seats! 

There were many other variations on differant themes - everyone had a great time whether their boat made it all the way or not!  Even if the boat didnt make it, all the participants did make it through the whole race!

You dont have to make a boat to enjoy the day at the Regatta!  There were many spectators that cheered on the boaters & a lot of laughter while watching such a fun race!  Come to the beach with the new friends that you just met the night before at the Admiral's Ball.  Or if you missed the Ball, you'll be sure to make some friends at the Regatta!

The day ended with our beautiful Firework display (including music that was set to the show).  What a great day!
