Winner of 2008 Teenage Survivor, Miss Caitlyn Wileman accepts her award from Mr. K.

 Our annual "Teenage Survivor" challenge was full of eager contestants.  As part of the July 4th festivities, parents put together a number of "challenges" for the teens & pre-teens based upon survival skills as in the TV show "Survivor". 

This year there were raft races, a type of relay race that turned into more of a "slip & slide" up and down a slippery hill, make a fishing pole & catch a fish, race thru the woods, create fire, and cook & eat the fish.

Many thanks to the parents that participated & helped to make sure that everyone completed their tasks (whether first or not).  Everyone learned skills they never thought they could do & found out how much fun roughing it can be!  Special thanks to John for the extra time he took not only to teach the kids how to cook a fish over the fire, but to also show them how to season & add flavor to their dishes (this was in addition to all his help in the kitchen!)!

After all the points were added up, the finalists lined up.  Mr. K. secretely gave everyone a folded bill, which they all un-folded together.  They all received a single dollar, except for the winner who received a $100 bill. Lucky winner was Miss Caitlyn Wileman, who showed great sportsmanship & is truly a Survivor!
